Title: Liver transplant considerations for evaluation, CTP, and MELD. Author: Mathews SB, Allison W, Lin S. Journal: Crit Care Nurs Clin North Am; 2010 Sep; 22(3):403-11. PubMed ID: 20691390. Abstract: The detailed evaluation of a patient for liver transplant candidacy involves health care professionals from various disciplines to ensure that liver transplantation is optimal for patient morbidity and mortality from the medical and psychosocial perspective. The national liver allocation policy is complex and should be updated periodically based on continual assessment of outcomes that result from current policies. Streamlining of policies and procedures and implementing appropriate documentation across all transplant centers is required and regulated by National agencies such as OPTN/UNOS and CMS. This ensures safe and appropriate organ allocation and the delivery of high-quality transplant services.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
