  • Title: [Crohn disease in the emergency surgery].
Author: Bondarenko NM, Belyĭ IS, Lebed' LD, Shirinkin VG.
Journal: Khirurgiia (Mosk); 1991 May; (5):51-3. PubMed ID: 2072647.
    Abstract:
The authors discuss the results of their personal observations over patients with Crohn's disease (57 males and 88 females). Preoperative diagnosis of the disease is extremely difficult. A purposeful and carefully taken medical history, and dynamic observation may help in recognizing the disease. Appendectomy is indicated when the process occurs in the terminal ileum because the appendix is involved in the inflammatory process; resection of the stenosed segment is indicated in small intestinal obturation.
