Title: [Fracture of the corpus cavernosum with rupture of the penile urethra. Apropos of 2 cases]. Author: Gemayel T, Souilamas R, Elarbi N, Patrois R. Journal: J Urol (Paris); 1990; 96(8):445-8. PubMed ID: 2081911. Abstract: The authors describe 2 cases of fracture of a corpus cavernosum with rupture of the penile urethra. After their review of the literature, they stress how rare this accident is (about one hundred published cases, of which only 25% were associated with a rupture of the urethra). As they cannot refer to greater series, they emphasize the points they find important to achieve healing with as few sequellae as possible: very early diagnosis of the accident; very accurate assessment of the lesions; debridement of the wound and thorough cleaning of the corpus cavernosum; repair of each tunica within the shortest possible time.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
