Title: Snellen acuity, refractive error, and the Scheerer phenomenon. Author: Dunsky IL. Journal: Optom Vis Sci; 1990 Dec; 67(12):898-902. PubMed ID: 2082237. Abstract: The refractive state and Snellen acuity of 532 and 640 eyes respectively were determined and correlated with the visibility of the flying corpuscle phenomenon of Scheerer used in evaluating macular integrity. A model BFE 100 Blue Field Entoptoscope (BFE) was used to elicit the Scheerer phenomenon. This study shows that Snellen visual acuity and refractive state are associated with the type of flying corpuscle movement seen (pulsatile or uniform) when using the BFE to evaluate macular integrity.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
