  • Title: [Growth acceleration in orthopedically treated diaphyseal fractures of the femur in children].
    Author: Jawish R, Saikaly J, Ponet M.
Journal: Chir Pediatr; 1990; 31(4-5):235-9. PubMed ID: 2083459.
    Abstract:
Authors reported 126 fractures of the femur in children having had orthopaedic treatment. Between them, 40 cases are reviewed at an average of 4 years 3 months of follow up. Radiographic measurement of limbs discrepancy revealed that the mean value of overgrowth is more important in boy (11.36 mm) than girl (6.38 mm), especially between 3 and 7 years of age, and it is related to the initial overlap value and the type of fracture.
