  • Title: Experience with renal transplantation in the second and third decades at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
Author: Rao KV, Andersen RC, Lacombe MJ.
Journal: Clin Transpl; 1990; ():233-9. PubMed ID: 2103148.
    Abstract:
Approximately one-third of the patients receiving renal transplants have functioning allografts at 10 years. Chronic rejection continues to be the leading cause of kidney loss in late survivors. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, liver failure, malignancy, and sepsis are the major causes of late death. Identification and control of the risk factors contributing to patient mortality should enhance the long-term success of renal transplantation.
