Abstract: Good communication is a vital element in the delivery of quality nursing care, while poor communication can lead to lawsuits and avoidable patient death. This research surveyed 132 hospital nurses in the Midwest to determine their communication education while in school, the availability of continuing education programs related to communication, and the most important communication skills in nursing.
