Author: Bespalov VG, Aleksandrov VA, Troian DN, Lidak MIu.
Journal: Farmakol Toksikol; 1990; 53(4):49-51. PubMed ID: 2121519.
    Abstract:
The effects of nonsteroidal and steroidal drugs ortophen and dexamethasone on carcinogenesis of the uterine cervix and vagina were studied on mice. Intravaginal applications of a 0.1% solution of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene, 2 times a week for 8 weeks, induced cervical and vaginal carcinomas in 67% of cases in 35 weeks. Ortophen (20 mg/l of drinking water) and dexamethasone (1 mg/kg of feed) used on completion of carcinogen effect decreased the incidence of cervical and vaginal carcinomas and diminished mortality of the tumors.
