Abstract: Worldwide bronchial asthma is one of the most common chronic respiratory disease, having a significant impact on patients quality of life. The aim of asthma management is to reach a well controlled asthma status on long run. Therapeutic guidelines emphasise the importance of drug inhalation therapy. The author emphasises the benefits of inhalation therapy, summarizes the basics of inhalation techniques, reviews the benefits and pitfalls of using the three basic types of inhalers.
