  • Title: [The treatment of large incisional and abdominal hernias using a modification of E. Rehn's skin-flap].
    Author: Kranich H.
Journal: Zentralbl Chir; 1990; 115(5):301-9. PubMed ID: 2140660.
    Abstract:
Modified skin grafting can be helpful in restoring the abdominal wall to adequate anatomic condition and full functionality, even in the wake of large and very large postoperative incisional hernias. The rate of recurrence recorded by the author from 66 skin grafts amounted to 7.6 percent and was thus below the average of 9.0 percent that had been calculated from various literature sources. Advantages of skin grafting include the use of autologous material, smooth healing, and high resistance of the skin flap to infections as well as high tensile strength and elasticity of the corium.
