    Abstract:
The incidence of late complications following pacemaker implantation is low, mainly caused by erosion and infection. We report a case of febrile 62 year-old male, with a history of dual chamber permanent pacemaker implantation 3 years before admission to hospital. The microbiological results revealed Stapylococcus aureus, without local signs of infection and with normal echocardiographic examination. Cardiac device-related infective endocarditis was diagnosed, the patient was treated by prolonged (6 weeks) combinated intravenous antibiotic therapy and device removal. A new device implantation was performed weeks later.
