Title: [The characteristics of atherosclerosis in women of the indigenous and nonindigenous nationalities of Tashkent with arterial hypertension]. Author: Abdullakhodzhaeva MS, Utepov IaIu. Journal: Arkh Patol; 1990; 52(8):44-7. PubMed ID: 2149258. Abstract: Aorta, coronary, mesenteric and iliac arteries in women of Tashkent dying at the age of 20-89 years from various causes were studied. Arterial hypertension (AH) is found in 38.6% of cases, more frequently in the nonindigenous than in the indigenous population (16.1 and 6.0%, respectively), while the inverse relationship is found as to the incidence of nephrogenic and nephropathic AH. The incidence of atherosclerosis and ischaemic heart disease and their combination with AH prevails considerably in the nonindigenous women. Degree of the atherosclerosis of the aorta, coronary and iliac arteries against the background of AH is much higher than in persons without AH. The dependence of atherosclerosis upon AH differs at different ages. Atherogenic effect of AH is enhanced by its combination with diabetes mellitus.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
