    Abstract:
The results of a trial with Propofol for conscious sedation in mentally and/or physically handicapped and extremely anxious dental patients is presented. A continuous intravenous infusion of Propofol was chosen as a method of administration with slow and careful titration until the appropriate level of sedation was reached. Propofol with its favourable pharmacokinetic profile proved to be an excellent agent for conscious sedation in the mentally and/or physically handicapped and extremely anxious patients. The depth of sedation is easily and rapidly controlled by the rate of the infusion. The recovery was rapid, the patients were clear headed and devoid of any early and late postoperative sequelae.
