Title: Isolated leishmanial lymphadenopathy - a rare type of leishmaniasis in India: a case report. Author: Sharma M, Malhotra A. Journal: Diagn Cytopathol; 2012 Nov; 40(11):1002-4. PubMed ID: 21538958. Abstract: A patient presented with isolated, soft to firm, inguinal swelling since childhood clinically thought to be a benign lipomatous lesion. Fine-needle aspiration of the swelling revealed amastigote form of Leishmania donovani in a background of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia. Excision of the swelling resulted in reversal of positive Aldehyde test. Isolated leishmanial lymphadenopathy in an immunocompetent person, is a rare manifestation of leishmaniasis in India.
