    Abstract:
Sixty patients with associated discirculatory encephalopathy of hypertonic genesis and the extrapyramidal syndrome were examined. In order to compare the clinical manifestations with localization of foci of lesions, 51 patients underwent computer-aided brain tomography. The intensity of the extrapyramidal syndrome associated with has not been established to attain that in idiopathic parkinsonism. In patients with discirculatory encephalopathy, the extrapyramidal syndrome may be coupled with other symptoms pointing to diffuse impairment of the brain. In 49 cases out of 51 (81.6%), the computer-aided tomograms demonstrated different pathological alterations of the brain characteristic of chronic hypertonic encephalopathy, with those alterations primarily seen in the area of basal ganglia.
