Title: [Use of short cortical mini-screws in orthodontics]. Author: Chillès JG, Riemenschneider-Chillès S. Journal: Orthod Fr; 2011 Sep; 82(3):253-68. PubMed ID: 21914433. Abstract: This article presents a summary of current knowledge about the use of short mini-screws inserted into cortical bone deep in buccal areas to serve as skeletal anchorage. They can be excellent alternatives to conventional long trans-mucosal bone screws or miniplates, combining the simplicity of the long screws with the reliability of the miniplates. The wide range of their effectiveness makes them useful orthodontic tools in many difficult clinical situations. In this article, we discuss materials, indications and clinical procedures for the use of these short, 5 mm miniscrews, illustrating their application with records of clinical cases.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
