Title: [Hallux valgus--several ways to treat]. Author: Klemola T. Journal: Duodecim; 2011; 127(16):1709-18. PubMed ID: 21972589. Abstract: Hallux valgus is a progressive exertional metatarsal disturbance altering the kinematics of walking. It may be accompanied by other problems of the foot, such as hammer toe or flatfoot syndrome, symptoms of metatarsalgia or arthrosis of the small joints of the foot. Conservative treatment aims to reactivate the muscles of the foot. Operatively, placement of the 1st metatarsal to its anatomical position over the sesamoid bones is attempted to support the action of the foot muscles. When choosing the operative technique the extent and severity of the disorder as well as the objectives and risk factors of the treatment should be considered.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
