Abstract: Doctors and the surroundings of children are often unacquainted with chronic illnesses in combination with physical activity. This leads to prudence. The latter causes restricted physical activity in a lot of children with obstructive lung diseases as a result of an advice not to participate in sports. Consequently, the child may get into psychosocial isolation. Pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) are described. EIB is hardly ever a problem at participating in sports, if treated well. In general, it can be concluded that only a small group of children with diffusion disorder is at risk during some sports.
