Title: [Fibrin glue in gastrointestinal fistulas]. Author: Karvonen J, Salminen P, Grönroos J. Journal: Duodecim; 2011; 127(24):2647-52. PubMed ID: 22320107. Abstract: Gastrointestinal fistulas are relatively uncommon, and therefore difficult to diagnose. They occur after surgical procedures and result from various diseases or injuries. The diagnosis is usually based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography. When occurring, these fistulas are associated with considerable morbidity and even mortality. One third of the fistulas heal spontaneously, while the rest have usually been operated with varying success. During the last years, gastrointestinal fistulas have been successfully treated endoscopically with fibrin glue.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
