Title: MRI of the knee. Author: Skinner S. Journal: Aust Fam Physician; 2012 Nov; 41(11):867-9. PubMed ID: 23145417. Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gold standard in noninvasive investigation of knee pain. It has a very high negative predictive value and may assist in avoiding unnecessary knee arthroscopy; its accuracy in the diagnosis of meniscal and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears is greater than 89%; it has a greater than 90% sensitivity for the detection of medial meniscal tears; and it is probably better at assessing the posterior horn than arthroscopy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
