Title: Epidemiologic status of drug abuse in Mexico. Author: Medina-Mora ME, Tapia CR, Rascón ML, Solache G, Otero BR, Lazcano F, Mariño MC. Journal: Bull Pan Am Health Organ; 1990; 24(1):1-11. PubMed ID: 2331552. Abstract: Abuse of alcoholic beverages and tobacco appear to constitute priority public health problems in Mexico, while abuse of other drugs is sufficiently widespread to justify concern. More specifically, a recent national survey (11) found that over 10% of the male subjects 18 to 65 years old met established international criteria for alcohol dependence, while about a quarter of those surveyed were active smokers. A total of 4.3% said they had used one or more drugs other than tobacco or alcohol at some time in their lives.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
