Title: [Multiple sclerosis and pregnancy]. Author: Ruuskanen J, Malm H, Airas L. Journal: Duodecim; 2013; 129(14):1457-64. PubMed ID: 23961604. Abstract: Multiple sclerosis will usually calm down during pregnancy, but the number of relapses again increases immediately after childbirth. Among the conventional immunomodulatory drugs, there is experience already for over 15 years of the use of interferon-beta and glatiramer. No indications of harmful effects on the fetus have been noted, and interferon-beta and glatiramer can very likely be safely used until the beginning of pregnancy. Fingolimod is suspected to be harmful for fetal development, and the use of this drug should be stopped no later than two months before discontinuing the contraception.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
