  • Title: Neural and hormonal regulation of function in the gut.
    Author: Makhlouf GM.
    Journal: Hosp Pract (Off Ed); 1990 Feb 15; 25(2):79-87, 90-5, 98. PubMed ID: 2406279.
    Abstract:
Signal peptides in the GI tract may be of endocrine, paracrine, or neuronal origin. Improvements in the ability to identify cells containing such peptides and to measure them both intracellularly and extracellularly have made it easier to distinguish both source and target for these physiologically important molecules. The regulatory peptides frequently act in concert.
