Title: [Age-dependent changes of the central part of the lateral ventricle of the brain in children (author's transl)]. Author: Mikschiczek D. Journal: Fortschr Neurol Psychiatr Grenzgeb; 1977 Sep; 45(9):508-14. PubMed ID: 242961. Abstract: In 504 children of different age groups the width of the body region of the lateral ventricles was measured by means of one-dimensional echoencephalography in a cross-sectional study. During the first two months of life, there is in the average a decrease of the width of the body region and afterwards an increase until the age of four. It can be assumed that the phenomenon of the decrease is caused by the rapid growth of brain in this period of life. The one-dimensional echoencephalography can be used as screening test for the diagnosis of neuropaediatric disorders.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
