Title: [Clinical and immunological characteristics of hiv-infection in patients with Asp299glly polymorphism of the Toll-like receptor 4 gene]. Author: Kirichenko TS, Koval' TI, Kaĭdashev IP, Dubinskaia GM. Journal: Georgian Med News; 2013 Nov; (224):30-5. PubMed ID: 24323961. Abstract: The prevalence of Asp299Gly polymorphism of the TLR4 gene and its impact on the clinical and immunological characteristics of HIV infection were investigated. Asp299Gly polymorphism of the TLR4 gene was observed significantly in HIV-infected patients - 12.0 % as compared with controls (2.1%, p<0,05). This study suggests a greater risk for development of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections in HIV- positive patients with Asp299Gly polymorphism of the TLR4 gene. The patients with Asp299Gly TLR4 polymorphism demonstrated the development of opportunistic infections with higher CD-4 counts than the patients with AA genotype. The present results may influence to the future criteria for initiation antiretroviral treatment and antibiotic prophylaxis of opportunistic infections in patients with Asp299Gly polymorphism of the TLR 4 gene.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
