Title: Transurethral prostatectomy: a bloodspilling technique. Author: Gentens P, Van der Planken M, Augustijns J. Journal: Acta Chir Belg; 1986; 86(6):349-51. PubMed ID: 2435091. Abstract: 27 patients who underwent a transurethral prostatectomy (T.U.R.) were studied. The amount of intraoperative blood loss was determined in all patients; in 12 patients we also measured the postoperative blood loss during the first 72 hours after the T.U.R. These results show that the average total blood loss (T.U.R. + 72 hours) is relatively high in this series: 464 ml. In the authors opinion blood loss is a main risk factor for elderly patients undergoing a transurethral prostatectomy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
