Title: Seromucinous hamartoma in the nasal cavity medial to the middle turbinate: report of 2 cases and review of the literature. Author: Huang CC, Lee TJ, Huang CC, Wu PW. Journal: Head Neck; 2015 Feb; 37(2):E15-8. PubMed ID: 24817677. Abstract: BACKGROUND: Seromucinous hamartoma, a type of epithelial hamartoma, is a rare benign glandular proliferation of the sinonasal tract and nasopharynx. Herein, we present 2 rare cases of seromucinous hamartoma arising in the nasal cavity medial to the middle turbinate. METHODS AND RESULTS: This is a case report of 2 patients diagnosed with seromucinous hamartoma of the nasal cavity and a review of the literature. CONCLUSION: Seromucinous hamartoma of the nasal cavity is an exceedingly rare diagnosis but should be included in the differential diagnosis of a posterior nasal tumor. Most cases arise from the posterior nasal cavity medial to the middle turbinate rather than lateral to the middle turbinate.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
