Abstract: It seems that endogenous prostacyclin is one of the most important natural protective substances in the (human) gastroduodenal mucosa. According to the observations, in humans there is a definite tendency toward decreased endogenous prostacyclin production in the gastroduodenal mucosa of smokers.
