Title: [Acute lower abdominal pain caused by adnexal torsion in a ten-year-old girl]. Author: Steinthorsdottir KJ, Folmer L, Bisgaard T. Journal: Ugeskr Laeger; 2014 Aug 04; 176(32):. PubMed ID: 25292479. Abstract: A ten-year-old girl presented with four days of lower abdominal pain. A diagnostic laparoscopy on the suspicion of acute appendicitis revealed left-sided adnexal torsion. The cyanotic ovary was detorsed and recovered. At three-month follow-up there were no clinical or ultrasonic signs of pathology. The clinical presentation of adnexal torsion is unspecific and mimics several differential diagnosis. Adnexal torsion is a rare condition, especially in pre-pubertal girls. However, it must still be kept in mind when evaluating girls regardless of age with lower abdominal pain.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
