Title: [Treatment of Kienböck's disease using a pyrocarbon implant: case report]. Author: Werthel JD, Hoang DV, Boyer P, Dallaudière B, Massin P, Loriaut P. Journal: Chir Main; 2014 Dec; 33(6):404-9. PubMed ID: 25304449. Abstract: We report on two patients with advanced Kienböck's disease (Lichtman IIIa and IIIb) who underwent surgical treatment in which the lunate was replaced by a pyrocarbon implant. At a mean follow-up of 3 years, the average VAS pain score was 1 and the average DASH was 11.5. There were no changes in range of motion after surgery and the average grip strength was 76.5% of the contralateral side. X-rays showed no disease progression. These encouraging preliminary results have led us to suggest replacing the lunate with a pyrocarbon implant in a greater number of patients with advanced Kienböck's disease.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
