Title: ATP dependent primary active transport of xenobiotic-glutathione conjugates by human erythrocyte membrane. Author: Awasthi YC, Singh SV, Ahmad H, Wronski LW, Srivastava SK, LaBelle EF. Journal: Mol Cell Biochem; ; 91(1-2):131-6. PubMed ID: 2533663. Abstract: We have demonstrated the presence of a dinitrophenyl glutathione (Dnp-SG) stimulated ATPase in human erythrocyte membranes. This ATPase mediates the active transport of glutathione-xenobiotic conjugate such as Dnp-SG from erythrocytes into the plasma. It is suggested that this transport system is distinct from the system which actively transports oxidized glutathione from the erythrocytes.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
