Title: [Mandibular alveolar ridge augmentation with hydroxyapatite. Apropos of 2 cases operated at the Pulido Valente Hospital]. Author: de Brito A, Duarte L, Carvalho V, Albino L. Journal: Rev Port Estomatol Cir Maxilofac; 1989; 30(1):39-46. PubMed ID: 2561711. Abstract: The authors briefly review the factors of bone less edentulous, describe prosthodontic difficulties and mention surgical methods used to improve prosthetics retention. The introduction of Hydroxylapatite (HA) in the field of oromaxillofacial surgery has opened new and promising ways to correct the edentulous, both in the stability and easiness of surgical results. The subperiostal tunnelling is by far the most widely used it often needs the use of acrylic splints to avoid complications. An open mucosal flap technique although more delicate and requiring increased surgical time, seems to us useful concerning the extent of the results, less morbidity and lower cost to the hospital patient.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
