Abstract: The aim of the study is a reflection on the current standing of giftedness research and the effectiveness of gifted education in order to facilitate its optimal developmental trajectory from potential to eminence. The necessity of rethinking high intellectual ability as a developmental process is exposed from a new paradigm sustained by research results that could lead us to a better understanding of its nature and functioning as the product of the inter-relation of predictor factors and psychosocial modulators across the development, and the participation of executive functions on cognitive management. Rethinking giftedness education is needed, too, in order to prepare young people for outstanding achievement or eminence. Finally, one of the actual effective models of intervention for gifted learners to excellence is exposed and exemplified: the integrated curriculum model. TITLE: Intervencion educativa para la expresion de la excelencia cognitiva. UNLABELLED: El objetivo del trabajo consiste en una reflexion sobre el estado actual de la investigacion en alta capacidad intelectual y la eficacia de su educacion que facilite su optimo desarrollo desde la potencialidad inicial hacia la eminencia. Se postula la necesidad de repensar la alta capacidad intelectual como un proceso en desarrollo, producto de la interrelacion de factores predictores y moduladores psicosociales y de la gestion de los recursos cognitivos disponibles. Se propone tambien repensar la educacion de las personas con alta capacidad para facilitar la optima expresion de excelencia y eminencia.
