Title: Calcaneal Insufficiency Fracture Secondary to Celiac Disease-Induced Osteomalacia: A Rare Cause of Heel Pain. Author: Kose O, Kilicaslan OF, Ozyurek S, Ince A. Journal: Foot Ankle Spec; 2016 Apr; 9(2):179-83. PubMed ID: 25941208. Abstract: UNLABELLED: Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of plantar heel pain; however, a broad spectrum of disorders may also present with plantar heel pain. A detailed history, physical examination, laboratory testing, and imaging studies may be necessary to reach an accurate diagnosis. Herein, the clinical presentation of a 33-year-old woman with calcaneal insufficiency fracture secondary to celiac disease-induced osteomalacia is presented, and its diagnosis and treatment are discussed. Calcaneal insufficiency fractures should be kept in mind in a patient with celiac disease that presents with heel pain. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic, Level IV: Case study.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
