Title: Toward organometallic antischistosomal drug candidates. Author: Hess J, Keiser J, Gasser G. Journal: Future Med Chem; 2015; 7(6):821-30. PubMed ID: 25996072. Abstract: In the recent years, there has been a growing interest in the use of novel approaches for the treatment of parasitic diseases such as schistosomiasis. Among the different approaches used, organometallic compounds were found to offer unique opportunities in the design of antiparasitic drug candidates. A ferrocenyl derivative, namely ferroquine, has even entered clinical trials as a novel antimalarial. In this short review, we report on the studies describing the use of organometallic compounds against schistosomiasis.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
