Abstract: The carotid-cavernous fistula is a well-known clinical entity in which the internal carotid artery ruptures within the cavernous sinus. There is a lesser known but similar clinical entity known as the dural arteriovenous malformation which represents rupture of one of the smaller branches of the internal carotid artery within the cavernous sinus.
