Title: [Clinical problems of staphylococcal septicemia]. Author: Jezyna C, Rutkowska E. Journal: Wiad Lek; 1989 Feb 01; 42(3):149-54. PubMed ID: 2623857. Abstract: Clinical Problems in staphylococcal septicaemia are reported in the observed 13 cases with severe multiorgan complications. In 69.2% of patients the course of the disease was very serious or severe, in the remaining cases it was moderately severe. Attention is called to the variety of clinical patterns and to frequent involvement of the central nervous system, cardiovascular system and respiratory system during septicaemia. The therapeutic management included, besides combined treatment with three antibiotics of synergistic action, antistaphylococcal serum, glucocorticoids, agents increasing the general resistance of the organism (transfusion of fresh blood, gamma-vein, gammaglobulin), cardiac drugs and symptomatic drugs, and in some cases cytochrome and heparin. Particular attention was given to adequate nursing care. Two patients died (15.4%).[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
