Abstract: Two stage low-calorie diet (1000 kcal/day for 3 weeks in the hospital and assumed 1000 kcal/day for 4 weeks at home) was applied in a group of 40 children aged 7 to 17 years with obesity 25-99%. The beneficial effect of the diet in the form of a decrease of cholesterol level has been found.
