Title: [Complex special examination of children with hematogenic osteomyelitis]. Author: Malyshev ES, Gorokhov AM, Laskina VA, Gorbunov SN, Biriukov IuP. Journal: Khirurgiia (Mosk); 1989 Nov; (11):94-7. PubMed ID: 2693817. Abstract: As the result of examination of 45 patients with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis and 156 those with the chronic form of the disease the authors determined the characteristic signs of each form. The ultrasonic method produces an authentic picture when there are changes in the soft tissues and periosteum, infra-red imaging gives a picture of hyperthermia on the skin surface and hyperthermia of the vessels. Radiothermometry at 30-cm waves yields data on the depth temperature not only in the soft tissues but also in the medullary cavity. The great advantage of these methods of examination consists in the possibility of performing nondestructive and bloodless diagnostic manipulations which are absolutely harmless and yield a complex of information on the pathological process in the medullary cavity, bone, and soft tissues.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
