  • Title: Seasonal variation in blood cholinesterase activity.
    Author: Ratner D, Bar Sella P, Schneeyour A, Kardontchik A, Eshel E.
Journal: Isr J Med Sci; 1989 May; 25(5):247-50. PubMed ID: 2722472.
    Abstract:
Blood cholinesterase activity was determined in 482 people to establish the range of enzyme values in residents of our area. A decrease in activity was noted during the summer, which recurred the following summer. This was due to a selective decrease in plasma pseudocholinesterase activity. The seasonal variation may be explained by the ingestion of pesticide residues found in fruit and vegetables.
