    Abstract:
An examination of 78 patients with complicated and not complicated duodenal ulcers has established suppression of parietal digestion and absorption in the small intestine. The alterations were still greater at early terms after selective proximal vagotomy. At the remote postoperative period the activation of the cavitary and parietal digestion took place as well as enhancement of the absorption processes in the small intestine. These facts point to the importance of the detection and correction of disturbances of absorption in the small intestine.
