    Abstract:
    The cytologic findings in two adenoid cystic and three mucoepidermoid carcinomas of the bronchial tree are reported. In one case of adenoid cystic carcinoma, the diagnosis was made on a fragment of tumor tissue exfoliated in the patient's sputum. In the other case, brushing and aspirated materials yielded large clusters of small cells arranged around cystlike spaces containing globular basophilic mucuslike material. Fine needle aspirates from the two low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinomas showed clusters of malignant squamous cells containing mucus-secreting cells. The high-grade mucoepidermoid cancer yielded malignant squamous and glandular cells in aspirates.
