  • Title: [Osteosynthesis of median femoral neck fractures using spongiosa screws].
    Author: Woischke R.
Journal: Aktuelle Traumatol; 1985 Jun; 15(3):93-9. PubMed ID: 2863960.
    Abstract:
20 median and 2 basocervical fractures of the neck of the femur treated in 21 patients via compression osteosynthesis using 3 or 4 AO spongiosa screws. Mortality and rate of infection were 0% with this procedure which exercises minimum stress on the surrounding tissue. Although in most cases the screws are expelled after 4 to 6 weeks, pseudoarthrosis was never observed. In 3 cases only (13.5%) we recorded necroses of the head of the femur during an average follow-up period of 50 months, the shortest time being 38 and the longest period 78 months.
