Title: Photoperiodic adjustment of thermal conductance in deer mice. Author: Andrews RV, Belknap RW. Journal: Comp Biochem Physiol A Comp Physiol; 1986; 85(3):495-9. PubMed ID: 2878779. Abstract: Seasonal changes in metabolic rate can be induced in mice held in thermal neutral (26-29 degrees C) ambient temperatures. The metabolic effect of winter photoperiod is a lower metabolic rate without compromise to metabolic reserve. Manipulations of photoperiod or melatonin backgrounds adjust the thermoregulatory setting for core temperature level and affect thermal conductance.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
