Title: Primary Intraosseous Lymphoplasmacyte-Rich Meningioma. Author: Wang Y, Teng Y, Xu H, Li Y. Journal: World Neurosurg; 2018 Jan; 109():291-293. PubMed ID: 28962957. Abstract: BACKGROUND: Lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma is an uncommon variant of meningioma, and that arising in the extradural site is extremely rare. CASE DESCRIPTION: We report a case of primary intraosseous lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma. A 51-year-old woman presented with left frontal scalp swelling lasting longer than 1 year. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an intraosseous extradural mass in the left frontal region with bone destruction. Surgical resection of the mass with a cranioplasty was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful, and histopathologic findings were consistent with a lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma. After a follow-up period of 2 years, no residual tumor or in situ recurrence was noted. CONCLUSIONS: Lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma occurring in the intraosseous extradural region is extremely rare. It is crucial for clinicians to be aware of this entity as it can be easily mistaken for more common osteogenic neoplasms occurring at this site.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
