Title: The use of antihistamines for the treatment of airway disease. Author: Meltzer EO. Journal: Cutis; 1988 Oct 27; 42(4A):22-5. PubMed ID: 2903815. Abstract: This report reviews studies of the use of antihistamines for the treatment of allergic respiratory diseases. The cumulative results indicate that the nonsedative antihistamine terfenadine, given orally at a dosage of 60 mg twice daily, is effective in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis in both adults and children. No major side effects have been reported, and sensitivity to this agent is not decreased after eight weeks of treatment. Preliminary data on the use of antihistamines for the treatment of asthma are also reviewed.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
