Title: Adjunctive therapies in Kawasaki disease. Author: Tremoulet AH. Journal: Int J Rheum Dis; 2018 Jan; 21(1):76-79. PubMed ID: 29076637. Abstract: Despite the administration of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) at a dose of 2 g/kg, approximately 3-5% of children with acute Kawasaki disease (KD) may develop coronary artery aneurysms. IVIg-resistance, defined as recrudescence of fever more than 36 h after IVIg completion, is a risk factor for coronary artery abnormalities. Thus, several adjunctive therapies are being evaluated for use in IVIg-resistant KD patients and in patients with coronary artery abnormalities. In this review the role of some of these adjunctive therapies in treatment of children with KD is discussed.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
