Abstract: Dysphagia and globus hystericus can be caused by disorders of the cervical spine. Functional disorders of the upper cervical spine are the most common cause of dysphagia and globus hystericus due to vertebral disease. Prominent osteophytes of the ventral spine occasionally cause these complaints. In these cases the operative ablation of the osteophytes is effective.
