Title: [Experiences of immunologic phenotyping in acute leukemia]. Author: Brinch L, Evensen SA, Stavem P, Smeland EB. Journal: Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen; 1989 Feb 10; 109(4):443-6. PubMed ID: 2919374. Abstract: Phenotyping of leukemic cells with monoclonal antibodies usually confirms the morphological classification in acute lymphoblastic and acute myeloid leukemia. Immunological phenotyping gives a more detailed subclassification and may add information on the stage of differentiation of the leukemic cells. This may have prognostic implications, and in the future may influence the choice of treatment modalities. It is not unusual for the leukemic cells to carry both myeloid and lymphoid markers. For such leukemias the prognosis is poor. We describe our experience from immunological phenotyping of 46 acute myeloid and 35 acute lymphoblastic leukemias.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
