  • Title: Correlation between urinary excretion of Tamm-Horsfall protein and sodium chloride in endemic nephropathy.
    Author: Cvorisćec D, Stavljenić A.
Journal: J Trace Elem Electrolytes Health Dis; 1988 Dec; 2(4):205-7. PubMed ID: 2980817.
    Abstract:
Excretion of Tamm-Horsfall protein and of certain electrolytes was measured in subjects living in an area of endemic nephropathy, in subjects living in a control area, and in patients with other types of chronic renal disease. A significantly higher excretion of Tamm-Horsfall protein and of sodium chloride was observed in the diseased, suspect and subjects "at risk", as compared to the control subjects and patients suffering from other types of chronic renal disease. A positive linear correlation between urinary excretion of Tamm-Horsfall protein and of sodium chloride was found in all the study groups of subjects from the endemic and control areas as well as in patients with other renal diseases.
